These are separate portals run by the Administrative Office of Courts, and they serve different purposes.

The payment portal at traffic.alacourt.gov lets you pay a fine directly with a credit card via AlaPay. Paying the ticket this way counts as a guilty plea, so the conviction goes on your driving record and ALEA assesses any applicable points.

The OTR system at resolve.alacourt.gov gives you more options. For eligible pre-adjudication traffic citations, you can submit proof of compliance (like proof of insurance or vehicle repair), request a payment extension, negotiate completion of a driving school course, or request a new court date — all without physically appearing before a judge.

What You Need Before You Start

Pull up your citation and find the ticket number, which is printed on the physical copy the officer gave you. If you lost the paper ticket, you can look up your case on the Alacourt traffic portal using your date of birth (month and year) and last name.

You also need a valid credit or debit card. Alabama's AlaPay system processes electronic payments and charges a convenience fee on top of the fine amount.

Step-by-Step Payment Process

Head to traffic.alacourt.gov and enter your citation number. The system pulls up the amount owed, including court costs and any late fees. Review the total, enter your card information, and submit.
